What ABV should homemade limoncello be?

ABV versus proof
In the United States, proof is twice the alcohol by volume: 30% ABV is 60 proof, 37% ABV is 74 proof, and 50% ABV is 100 proof. The starting spirit’s proof is not the finished limoncello’s proof because syrup and water dilute it.
